DevOps Engineer

ObjectStyle is a provider of open source solutions and commercial software development services. We are a major driving force behind such projects as Apache Cayenne – a powerful ORM framework, Bootique.io – a container-less Java app launcher, LinkRest – a model-driven REST engine, and a number of others. We have clients around the globe, with the majority located in the US. Our team works with such clients as NHL and Wikipedia and helps them to design, program and operate services in AWS and data center environment.

Currently we are looking to hire a senior DevOps/Cloud Engineer to join our DevOps team. The client is a New Jersey-based company that provides services in the area of Legal Search, Documents Review, and Documents Filing. We’ve helped them to go through a big technological transformation to become one of the most technically advanced organizations in their domain. Next, we are going to tackle a number of new challenges, such as the development of a public API, billing system, legal document search engine, and many more. We want to move rapidly, but not compromise the quality of our solutions.

The right candidate will know how to build infrastructure with the robustness to keep servers running 24×7, while maintaining the security of customer data. Working hours in the South America time zone.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Build the full stack of AWS Cloud Infrastructure
  • Build configuration and automation tools to simplify the process of deploying, upgrading, and scaling systems and software across our environment
  • Analyze and improve efficiency, scalability, and stability of monitoring, continuous integration and platform integration
  • Ability to plan, document, and execute tasks effectively given minimum supervision within a structured, highly available environment
  • Provide technical support on application server-related and web applications issues
  • Ability to diagnose problems from vague initial customer description through the full stack to underlying root cause
  • Strong Focus on security best practices

Qualifications:

  • 3 years administrating Linux servers and at least 1 years AWS experience
  • Experience with virtualization & container technologies – Kubernetes, Docker
  • Experience with AWS Cloud Core Services – EC2, EBS, S3, Lambda, RDS, AWS Cloud Networking & Security – Security Groups, VPCs
  • Solid Linux background, preferably CentOS and/or RedHat/AmazonLinux
  • Experience with CI/CD tools – gitlab, github, circleci, teamcity
  • Experience with IaC tools, preferably terraform or CloudFormation
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools – prometheus stack, elk, datadog, cloudwatch
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP network protocols and common system protocols such as SMTP, DNS, FTP(S), SSH, HTTP(S)
  • Good English and communication skills and the ability to directly interact with the client

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with AWS Security Tools including 3rd party tools, 2FA Services, WAF (CloudFlare, Centrify)
  • Experience with any other IaC tools – aws cdk, pulumi
  • Deep knowledge of maven and it’s lifecycle
